The Company

Our client is an Australian mineral sands mining company that have moved through DFS stage and are about to embark on the construction of a processing, mining and shipping facilities on the east coast of Africa.  As a company, they exist to mutually enrich their people, the local community and its shareholders and are now actively looking for socially conscious and highly competent professionals to join them.                                                                                    

The Role

A key role for the company is the General Manager – Construction Projects who will work closely with the Project team (Construction, Logistics, Project Controls) to ensure the various contract packages are managed according to the timelines and schedules of the project. 

Reporting to the Project Director, the General Manager – Construction Projects will be responsible for managing packages up to $100M each in value including:

• EPCM Contract (design and construction).
• Port Facilities.
• Water Treatment Facilities.
• Tailings Dam.
• Powerlines and Roads.
• Processing Plant.
• Power Production Facilities. 

A large component of the role is to manage the local community relations as this is critical to the success of the project development and applicants must be able to demonstrate their approach in similar environments. 

The Requirements

As the successful candidate, it is essential that you possess the following skills and experience: 

• 10+ years experience with African or remote overseas experience essential.
• 5+ years demonstrated Project Management experience in start up operations (ideally mineral sands) projects from mine to port.
• Tertiary Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Construction or similar.
• Hands on approach with an absolute commitment and demonstrable focus on developing, coaching, training and integrating into the local community.
• Absolute commitment to safety and working 100% ethically.
